Description of the painting by Fedor Vasilyev “View of the Volga. Barki

Volga. The most powerful in all respects that you can think of. The most ... There are no words to at least somehow describe it. Everything is clear here.

This river has appeared on the canvases of Russian painters so many times that it seems that we know it to the last drop. And no! This river is different, it is with character. And the one who does not have a boat has nothing to do next to it. Yes, even if the boat is available, it is still necessary to agree with the Volga. And if you don’t agree, you won’t get a rich catch from it, or a boat accident may happen.

But in fact, the Volga has always been the nurse-river. For all. And for the rich, it was the basis of the state, and for the poor, the basis of survival. It is precisely on the canvas that the poor are depicted.

The barks, most likely, are richer for someone and they are given to them in a fold. It helps to survive. A team of poor people is being assembled, as a rule, these are relatives. And while the river did not freeze, they are hired. For the whole summer until late autumn. And so from spring to autumn they earn their living.

They will go fishing or some goods that will be transported along the river and in the evening they will be ashore, for the night. Yes, and it would not hurt to relax ... they cook dinner, arrange themselves sleeping places. For reliability, the barks will be tied together and tied tighter on the shore. This is also salvation from the river. After all, the river is like a living organism, there are ebbs and flows. So it was more reliable to moor successfully and strengthen better. Yes, and people everywhere dashing walks, they could steal the barges by alloy. And it will be very bad: you won’t earn anything, and you still have to pay for the barque - nobody wanted to go into bondage in the minions.

But how marvelously and beautifully the artist depicted the sunset. How juicy the sky is depicted. It is blue in places, and powerful clouds are already running around it. In the quiet waters of the Volga, the sky is ghostly reflected, and the coast of the steppe beckons with its yellowness. Bright work, good work.
