Description of the painting of Nicholas Roerich "St. Francis of Assisi"

"St. Francis of Assisi" was written by Roerich N. This is the most revered Italian saint, he was portrayed by many artists. So this eminent author decided to portray the universal saint as he himself saw it.

Francis is depicted standing on a rock, below we see a city that turns white among the high mountains. Above the head of the hero of the canvas, a halo shines, in the form of a whole halo. Sunlight symbolizes a connection with something celestial and high. A man is dressed in a long savannah with a characteristic hood.

He holds a bird in his left hand, and this animal feels protected. His hands are a haven for God's creatures. Good and mercy is enough for absolutely everyone. The main quality of this saint was condemnation. He comprehended the love of all those around him, simply ceasing to condemn the actions of people. So great wisdom entered his life. His love was pure and not platonic. Only monologues with the creator and endless prayers fell from his lips.

According to legend, he could even discourage the wolf from being a cruel animal. He told that everyone has his own choice. It does not exist without days off and difficult situations. Sometimes a person simply does not see the light at the end of the dark corridor, because he looks completely in the wrong direction.

Roerich was able to paint with paints the whole sanctity of this man. He learned to think and understand how his hero canvases. Francis of Assisi declared that forgiveness lies in understanding. Here are just this supreme gift given only to some people. Many hide their resentment, finding themselves in an unhappy life.

See how the artist picked up a color palette. Dark skies above your head, like vices that rise up. But on a rock it is sunny and even birds made their nests in the branches of a flourishing world. While the Lord gives such natural phenomena, there always remains the hope that everything will turn out for the better.
